Reese Dante's Award Winning Covers Ever
since I can remember, I’ve loved art. There wasn’t a safe piece
of paper in my home. I doodled everywhere and everything…papers,
magazines, envelopes, brother’s homework. Then I started
sketching people. I’d go through a magazine and rip out ads,
preferably in color, then try to redraw them in a pencil sketch.
I’d obsess until I thought it was just as strong as the color photo…or
stronger.
I'm a self-taught artist. I went to school, but chose to get my degrees in business. Did the corporate thing for a while (still doing it) but I find it’s just not enough. I enjoy drawing and designing a little too much to just let it go. I’ve worked with several friends and customers who’ve had a need for design work in the past such as music CD jackets, book covers, logos, and websites. I enjoy doing covers the most. I started designing cover art in December 2009. Today, I work for several publishers and occasional take on self-published and other commissioned projects. As a teenager, my walls were covered by movie posters. Maybe it’s subliminal after staring at movie posters for so many years. I don’t know, but I do love a good story, especially those told by looking at a picture. Website | Twitter | Facebook | LinkedIn |
